Consistent Ratings for Wind Turbines

Distributed wind turbines have great potential to serve homes, farms, schools and other end-users, offering increased security of energy supply and community awareness of clean energy options.

However, performance and reliability obstacles have hindered greater adoption. Consumers and agencies providing financial incentives need greater assurance of safety and functionality to justify investments.

With easy-to-understand labels allowing “apples-to-apples” comparisons of different wind turbines, SWCC is helping overcome these hurdles.

eFormative Options assists SWCC in communicating with and receiving input from stakeholders including manufacturers, installers, government and utility incentive program managers, testing laboratories, and consumers. eFormative aids the SWCC in presenting certification results to the public for consumers and incentive mangers to learn about the performance of certified turbines.
